9 months old

The boys are 9 months old.  It was difficult getting photos this month because Nathan is always on the go.  Right before the photo-shoot he bonked his head and was pretty sad about it.  No matter what we did he was not cracking a smile. In order to get a picture of them together we had to put them in their highchairs.

  • Size 3 diapers, although Anthony really should be wearing the size 4s.  They wear size 4s to bed.
  • They were sleeping through the night but they have regressed.  And when I say “they” I really mean Anthony.  He’ll wake up to eat while Nathan can go all night.  The pediatrician says that it’s probably because Anthony is “social”.  He does tend to go right back to sleep after seeing us.  Also, Anthony is a better napper during the day than Nathan.
  • Eating anything and everything.  Love finger foods.  New foods: eggs, string cheese, mums, tomato, zucchini.  lentil, basil, peaches, pears, puffs, mangos
  • Interacting with each other a LOT.  They love to share their toys.
  • Anthony loves to wiggle up his nose when he laughs and smiles.  Nathan is starting to do it too.
  • They both love to read.  They will crawl after the book and try to put it in their mouths.  Bedtime has gotten interesting.
  • Diaper changing has become a game.  They both immediately turn onto their stomachs and reach for anything and everything they see.  We usually just give them a second diaper to hold onto that will distract them enough to quickly get through the diaper changing but that is after we experience the Anthony or Nathan full-moon.
  • The boys have been going out to eat with us more often.  They are so good sitting in a high chair or just in the stroller pulled up next to the table.  They love to people watch and soak up life.

Favorites:

  • They love the tags on blankets and toys.  Aunt Sara would be disgusted.
  • Games: Pass the paci.  Peek-a-boo.
  • Toy: These little stacking cups
  • Food: puffs and eggs, they like to feed themselves
  • Best friend: Keri!  They love their nanny.
  • Book: Still loving The Little Blue Truck
  • Each other!  They are always laughing and smiling at each other. Here’s a picture of Anthony telling Nathan a funny joke.

Anthony

Anthony was so cute during this photoshoot.

  • Weight: 19 lbs 3 oz (25%)
  • Height: 27 1/4 (10%)
  • Head Circumference: 17 1/2″ (15%)
  • Anthony still isn’t full on crawling but he gets up on his knees and rocks.  He reminds me of that USPS commercial with the clown where the family looks away and the clown is by the door.

  • Anthony reminds us of a cross between Justin Bieber and a Beatle.  His hair is out of control.  Grandma did give him his first haircut though the other day.  He’s got great hair… very thick and there is a lot of it.
  • Anthony is a people person and LOVES to snuggle.  When anyone holds him he wraps his little arms around them and nestles in his face.  His little cheeks are so squeezable.  After he eats at night he throw his arms and legs around me and goes to sleep, luckily Steve will carry him back into his bed because he looks so comfortable that I would probably let him sleep next to me if Steve weren’t there.

Nathan

  • Weight: 17 lbs 7 oz (10%)
  • Height: 27″ (15%)
  • H.C.: 17 1/2″ (25%)
  • Nathan is busy.  He is always on the go.  He has perfected his crawling and can get anywhere in a pinch.  He is also climbing up on everything.  Which means a few bumps and bruises.  He can go from a crawling position to standing up holding onto anything in little effort at all.  My favorite is when he crawls over to me and climbs up with a big smile on his face.  He is so proud.  Here’s one of the best pictures I got of him this month … i.e. he’s always on the go so this is the best I could do:

  • He has two teeth!  His two bottom teeth are both in.
  • Nathan is starting to look more and more like his daddy every day.  It’s so weird because at first we thought for sure Nathan was all me but he’s got a lot of Steve’s features.
  • I already mentioned how busy Nathan is but he is super smart.  When you hold him he’s always looking over your shoulder to acquire his next target.  He isn’t that interested in baby toys and will beeline it for a cellphone or remote.
  • Nathan has figured out solids and is an excellent eater just like his brother.  They are my little baby birds.  They put their arms out to the side and sit there with their little mouths open ready to devour whatever it is I give them.
  • Nathan is very sensitive to other people’s feelings.  He will cry when Anthony is sad or give Anthony back a toy when Anthony is on the verge of crying.
  • Nathan has said “mama” or what sounds like “mom”.  But not to me.  I think we can count it as his first word.

Us

  • We still haven’t left the boys overnight but we did get to go to Six Flags for a day!  Grandma stayed with the boys and fed them frozen milk.
  • Speaking of Grandma she has been here for the better part of the last month helping us out.  The boys have gotten used to seeing her smiling face in the morning and are going to miss her so much when she leaves next week.  They also got to meet their great grandmother on my side, Joyce Richardson.
  • The boys are doing awesome when it comes to sleep.  We put them down around 7 pm and feed them when we’re going down for the night and then not again until 7 or 7:30 am.  We’re not sure what to do with all this rest.
