2nd Ultrasound

2nd Ultrasound

We went on Tuesday and everything looked great.  The babies are measuring 8w5d and 9w0d. One of them was moving around and you could see the flickering of it’s heart beat.  We didn’t get to hear the heartbeat this time or get a measurement of how fast they were.  I bought a fetal doppler online this week so we can listen to the heart beats at home.  The dr. has me taking additional calcium (I got some of those chews like you take) and iron.  With twins I should gain 3-12 lbs by 13 weeks, 22-36 by 26 weeks, and 37-54 by the end of the pregnancy.  I bought a book on twins and it’s very important that I gain weight early… usually means healthier babies.  The dr. said I shouldn’t travel after 28 weeks, but my book says not to travel after 24.  The dr. said that by 11 weeks our chances of a miscarriage will be the lowest it would be throughout the pregnancy, less than 1% and that we’re really good having made it to this point.  She said most miscarriages were within the first 7 weeks.  So that makes me feel better.  We are going to have some testing done in the next few weeks.  Two blood tests and an ultra sound that measures the amount of fluid behind the babies necks.

We might just go to Montana.  My mom wants to throw a babyshower and it’d be nice to see my sister’s newborn.  If we do go it’d be right after 18 weeks when we find out the genders.  I want to do a gender reveal party.  I was reading where a couple had the u/s tech write down the genders and then they took the card to a balloon shop, and the balloon people but two balloons in a box, then the couple opened the box at their shower and the two colored balloons floated out.  I think that’d be a cute way of finding out.  Steve isn’t into parties or the attention of having a shower but he can deal with it for one day.  🙂
