This past month has been a lot of fun.

The boys have started to notice each other.  It’s not all the time but there have been a few rare occasions when Nathan will look at Anthony and laugh or the two of them will smile at each other and stare.  I wonder what is going through their minds… They are both starting to grab at things and immediately put them in their mouths.  Today during the photo shoot Nathan put his hand in Anthony’s mouth… yum.

 

Favorite Toy: This is a toss up between the squid with googly eyes or the kick ‘n play chair.  In the mornings we put them in their chairs and let them look out the window and whoever isn’t in the kick ‘n play chair will still look over at the chair and kick their feet like they’ll make it make noise.
Swaddle: Unfortunately we are still kinda swaddling them.  I really want to get to where they don’t need to be swaddled but they wake up from throwing their arms into the air after only an hour if they aren’t.  However, since Grandma Seacat got here last Sunday we have gone the week without swaddling.  They have been getting up every 2 hours at night to eat and going longer during the days.  Not sure if it’s related to the swaddling.
Favorite Book: Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss.  Mostly because it’s daddy’s favorite book to read to the boys.

During their 4 month checkup on March 6th the boys had to get DTAP, IPV, HIB, Preunar, and Rotarix shots.  The pediatrician thought they were doing good even if Nathan was on the smaller side.  She said that typically they recommend exclusively breast milk until 6 months old but we could start introducing solids soon.  They are growing up too fast already.

Anthony

• You love to drool!  We’ve started putting bibs on you during the day just to catch the drool from soaking your outfits.  If we don’t use the bib we have to change you every couple hours.
• You suck your thumb already.  And when I say suck I really mean chew.
• You LOVE when someone reads you a book.  You’re very interested in the words and like looking at the pictures on each page.
• Anthony is getting so big!  He is now wearing size 2 diapers.  Although I still put on the occasional size 1 because I think they’re still kinda fitting… daddy would disagree.
• Anthony is 23 inches long
• He weighs 12 lbs 14 oz – 20th percentile
• His head circumference is 16″ – 25th percentile

Nathan

• Nathan is still wearing size 1 diapers and he goes through about 15 a day.  He thinks it’s hilarious to pee on us when he’s on the changing table.  I think he holds it up until we put him down to change him and then he laughs out loud when the stream flies into the air and all over everything.
• Nathan weighs over a pound a half less than Anthony – 11 lbs 5 oz
• He is 22 1/2 inches long
• His head circumference is 15 3/4″ – 5th percentile
• Nathan, you are so SMART!  Grandma showed you your reflection in the mirror a couple days ago and you burst out laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world.  This went on for a good 5 minutes.

 

 

Predictions

• I predict that Nathan will be the first to crawl
• I predict that Anthony will never learn to walk and instead will run everywhere
• I predict that Nathan will be the first to say “mama” while Anthony will be the first to say “dada”

Us

• Steve and I are both back at work.  I have been working now for 4 weeks and it has been wonderful.  I only have to take 2 10 minute breaks during the day to continue breastfeeding the boys.  We timed it so I feed them in the morning before I start work and then again around my lunch hour.  I’m so lucky to be able to work from home.
• I am the smallest I’ve been since before college.  Even the pediatrician told me I needed to eat more. I pretty much eat everything I see but breastfeeding twins has taken a lot of energy.
• I still have my linea nigra but it is starting to fade.
• As I mentioned in a previous post, I am losing my hair by the handful.  It is worrisome.
• We are starting to interview for nannies!  Talk about scary… the thought of trusting a complete stranger with the most important little guys in our lives is nerve wracking.  We posted a job on SitterCity.com and have interviewed a few perspective ladies.  April is coming up too quickly.
• Speaking of help, this past month was the month of the Grandmas.  Thank you Grandma DeLuca and Grandma Seacat for all your help.  We love you!
